Smart Nanocomposites Advancements and Innovations Laboratory

Innovation and Augmentation of Principles of Polymers, Nanomaterials and Composites for Practical Applications

The Smart Nanocomposites Lab is an interdisciplinary research laboratory dedicated to investigating the structure-property-function relationships of reactively tailored polymers, functional blends, nanoparticles, and composites. Our research spans critical areas such as toxic metal detection, environmental remediation, circular packaging solutions, and thermal management composites. We fabricate advanced materials with state-of-the-art interfacial engineering, innovative heterostructure design, and molecular reactivity. We prioritize sustainable manufacturing practices that minimize energy requirements and material waste through recyclability and sustainability. Our group is committed to advancing smart and sustainable manufacturing using polymer processing and heterostructural composite design. As the Principal Investigator, I believe understanding the interactions between polymers and particles (whether inorganic, organic, or biological) at the molecular scale is key to designing resilient, advanced structures at the macroscopic level. Our lab fosters an open, innovative environment that values sustainable chemistry. I prioritize eye-level conversations, the freedom to ask challenging questions, humility, and an unrelenting passion for scientific discovery.

We do not have any current openings for graduate students in the lab.  Postdocs and graduate students with potential funding are encouraged to contact Prof. Samantaray
